I will share with you some examples from my own business – I have created free tutorial series that show people how to start making money online and start their online business, I tried to make them as good as possible, sharing valuable information that I have learned over the years. People are coming to these articles from different places: my YouTube videos, other pages of my website, Search Engines (Google, Yahoo, Bing), Facebook, Twitter, other blogs and websites etc… If they like what they see they can opt-in for more tutorials and strategies that will help them to start and grow successful online business. When they subscribe to my list they will start getting emails from me encouraging them to work harder and make more money online. While they’re working their way through the program I recommend them great products that will help them to make even more money.

If you want financial long-term business success online you need to have email list.
Biggest myth in Internet marketing
Get it wrong and it will be failure, get it right and you will succeed.
But before you jump and start collecting names and emails of your website visitors you need to get one thing. I have learned it from Frank Kern and now I want to pass it on you. It is vital for your business! Get it wrong and it will be failure, get it right and you will succeed.
95% of people that are trying to make money online have wrong mindset towards their list and this mindset limiting and preventing their success. “Money is in the list” – this is the biggest myth and misconception in the Internet marketing. If you have been around Internet marketing for some time you probably have heard it thousand times, if you’re brand new then you’ll hear it a lot.
This is the furthest thing from the truth and this wrong belief’s hurting thousands and thousands of people who’re trying to start profitable online business. Think about it – if money would be in the list then richest people in the world would be spammers because they have the biggest lists. You have guys who’re automatically scraping millions of email addresses all over the Internet and then sending all kind of offers to buy stuff. I have bunch of spam emails in my inbox everyday. So clearly money is not in the list!
So this leads us to the thought “Maybe money is in the relationship with the list”. This is true but not entirely, because we need to think about what creates this relationship in the first place.
eMail marketing revelation
The real truth is “The money is in the value you provide to the list”, because the value you provide to the list creates relationship with that list. That relationship makes people trust you, like you and buy from you. Think and treat your email list not like bunch of names and email addresses but as your friends, people that look up to you, partners that help you spread your message and grow your business. Your income is in direct proportion to the value you provide to your marketplace – in order to Receive you must Give first!
How to get rich – 5 STEPS
So here are 5 key elements (pillars) that will help you create value in your marketplace, bond with any list of any size and ultimately generate sales while maintaining good will and trust with your subscribers.
1.Know their desired outcome.
See 90% of people that have generated a list of subscribers have no idea what to really do with it other than bombard that list with every affiliate or primary business promotion under the sun. I see this over and over – I subscribe to a list only to find my inbox flooded with bunch of emails promoting latest fad or popular product in the marketplace with little or no value to me. All successful business owners know their niche market, what people within that market want, where they want to go, what they’re trying to achieve. Do you remember this: post finding your niche? Do you understand now why I was putting so much emphasis on building a business around something you love and enjoy doing? Because it will make it so much easier for you – you already know the market, you know the problems.
2. Overcome their skepticism with most valuable stuff that you can.
You and I both know that people are skeptical, especially online. With bizarre number of online scams, hype and empty promises out there it is hard not to be. When someone joins your list and opts-in, they do so because they want to get one step closer or many steps closer to their desired outcome. It’s your job to put your best foot forward and demonstrate that you can help them. Give them something for free to prove you are genuine. Can they try your best strategy for free, something that will feel ultra valuable to them? You can show them how to use a great tool, give them a free report, video tutorials, personal consultation, be creative. If you really think about it, we all have something of value that we can share. Remember – we’re paid in direct proportion to the amount of value we provide to the marketplace, so give your subscribers best you have and you will be well compensated for it.
3. Demonstrate that they can achieve their desired outcome.
Everyone is afraid of failure. Self-doubt is one of the biggest problems that prevent people from taking action. That voice deep inside telling them “You can’t do it” and it is totally normal. People are afraid of making mistakes, and you have to take away their fears and help them to overcome their self doubt. One of the best way to do this is by showing success stories of people just like them who have had similar results. I will use myself as an example back when I started my online business it wasn’t instant success, in fact it was rather humble beginning. As you can see English is not my first language and back then it was.. bad. I mean BAD. I was ok in conversational English, but my technical English sucked. I barely understood 50% of what I was reading and had to sit with online dictionary translating whole bunch of words to understand what it was about. My grammar was not better. I’ll admit, my grammar is not the greatest now. It used to be atrocious. So my articles and posts looked like crap. Oh, since I didn’t know anything about building websites or WordPress my first website… well it was complete mess that would make your eyes pop. But I refused to give up because of such insignificant obstacles and eventually manage to get to my financial goals. You can use other people in your niche as examples. If you browse popular blogs in your marketplace check out author “about” page and you’ll find yourself plenty of examples.
4. Give them tools that they can use to move closer to that desired outcome.
Obviously I am serving an Internet marketing community and people in this industry want to know how to get more traffic, increase conversions, get more sales and subscribers… so often I give away proven strategies that help them achieve what they want. I simply record video that explains strategy and how to use it, so people can put it to work in their business right away to get immediate results. Think about what you can share, maybe you can point them to really useful tool that will help them solve their problem, maybe give blueprint that will navigate them along their way…
5. Motivate them to go further.
The final step is where most of the people drop the ball. The common question you might have “How do I provide value and sell at the same time?” A lot of people think “If I am selling I am not providing value and doing people wrong”. It is not true if you have done first four steps right – people will trust you and be motivated to go further and it is your job to motivate them to go further. The way you do that is simply say: “Listen, as you can tell by the stuff I just shared with you and the tools I’ve given to you, you can do this. And I have something that will help you accelerate your results…” And then follow these 3 easy steps:
- Make an offer and be kind when you do it.
- Give them a reason to take action right now.
- Back it up with rock solid guarantee.
If you do that consistently and with your customer best interest in mind and deliver value to your marketplace – you will be extremely successful and you don’t have to have a giant list to make very good living.
In order to start building your list you need to start collecting contact information of your website visitors from the day one. For all of my email management needs I use Aweber. They have topnotch deliverability, video tutorials, and unlimited emails and they have been around forever, so I trust them. Right now they offer $1 trial (you pay only $1 for the first month). Set up a mailing list, generate an opt-in form (the form where your readers will submit their email address to your mailing list), and put the code into your blog (it is easy as copy and paste one line of code). I recommend that you at least put the opt-in form on your blog’s sidebar. Your goal is to convert as many of your blog’s visitors into email subscribers as you can. So, you want the opt-in form to be obvious and you want it to grab the user’s attention.
